{{Infobox Player Character | Name = Mielikki Metsäläinen | Image = [[File:MielikkiMetsalainenProfile.png]] | Race = Viera | Gender = Female | Clan = Veena | Nameday = | Died = | Birthplace = Old Sharlayan | Homeland = }} Mielikki Metsalainen is an Ex-Sharlayan Botanist who came to Eorzea in order to research and gather information for her homeland. Since then, She has found love, became exiled, and moved in her entirety to Eorzea. Mielikki originally wanted to become a font of all knowlege, a person and a physical library. Although her memory is poor, she still seeks to meet this amibiton. == History == Mielikki Metsalainen was born in Old Sharlayan to her mother, Forum member, Etelätär Metsalainen and her father, Ahti Metsalainen, a philisophical professor in the study of punishments and justice. Mielikki has 11 other siblings, notably her twin brother, Ukko Metsalainen. === Naming === Mielikki's family follows a mix of Sharlayan doctrine and the traditions of her grandmother, Louhi's tribe. A great deal of these traditions left lasting marks on Mielikki's life, her name being a potent example. In Mielikki's household each mother draws from Myths and Legends to name their children, in her grandmother's tribe this was to name the children after the stars, but in pratice of the Metsalainen family usually draws from the existing knowledge of Mythology from written books on the subject. In turn, Mielikki was named after the Goddess of the Hunt and the Forests, inspired by her childlike wonder of plants and the woodlands that lied north of Old Sharlayan. === Childhood === Mielikki's Childhood was busy and chaotic. Although she grew up in an almost labyrinthian Sharlayan mansion, her family consumed the space almost entirely. The Mansion was split into three sections, having a central, west and east wing. Up the grand staircase, there was a tricolour of Rugs. Rolanberry Red, Cereulean Blue and Forest Green. Mielikki's close family was given the east wing, which was adorned with Forest Green, the designated colour of Mielikki's close family. Mielikki grew up with a facination of the natural world, she would often keep diaries and sketchbooks filled with pressings, doodles and other notes pertaining to the flora around and within the forests that lined the main Sharlayan island. Mielikki would talk avidly about the biology, botany and phytology of plants. Her parents saw this as a promising and inspiring trait, but her tutors found her annoying and considered her to be rather obsessed with plants, disregarding discussion on any other subject. As she grew older she was expected to take care of both her younger siblings and all of her academic responsiblities. Albeit she shared this burden with her twin-brother Uhko, and her older siblings Pekko, Seppo, and Ilmatar, the burden of caretaking took it's toll on the studious Veena; the lack of sleep from time spent catching up with her work draining her stamina as much as the lack of care her parents seemed to give drained her spirit. {{#seo: |title=Mielikki Metsalainen |title_mode=append |description= Mielikki is a ex-sharlayan botanist. |image=MielikkiMetsalainenProfile.png }}
